Why Do Sprinters Have
Such Perfectly balanced Physiques?
If you've ever seen the lineup of superhero physiques in the 100m Olympic finals...

Then you've surely asked yourself the very same puzzling question...

We here at Sprinters Academy asked ourselves many years ago...

How on Earth do all sprinters seem to have such impossibly perfect proportions in their physique?

It wasn’t just the guys. It was the girls as well.

Somehow...at the same time...

The men were as masculine as can be, and the women were as feminine as can be...

Both from the exact same movement!

So it had to be something inherent to the EXERCISE ITSELF...

That allowed each and every one of its athletes to develop proportions rarely ever seen in either the gym...

Or almost any other sport.

The type of proportions that turns heads at the beach, yet at the same time...

Still allows a man to look like a normal person in a suit...

And a woman to avoid appearing even the tiniest bit "over-masculine".

So basically...the type of physique that all eyes can appreciate.

Assuming this theory was valid...

It meant that literally anyone and everyone, could develop a similar physique for themselves...

If only they had a simple system to show them the mechanics of the movement itself...

And program to help get them started.

So from that day forward, for the next 3 years...

It became our mission to create exactly that.

The Early Findings
of our Research

FINDING #1:

Early on, while observing other sports with similarly impressive physiques...

(Gymnastics and high diving being two classic examples)...

We noticed that sprinting was the ONE and ONLY example we found...

Of a sport that didn't require an extremely dangerous and specialized skillset...

Which ordinary adults had no chance at participating in.

FINDING #2:

Upon further research, discovered that throughout 98% of our human evolution as hunter gatherers...

The simple act of "running fast", either to kill a prey or to escape a predator...

Made up the vast majority of our daily exercise.

Which when you think about it...perfectly explains why sprinters proportions look so universally attractive...

Since a body that is perfectly conditioned for this one movement...

Would give you the absolute best chance of survival back in the caveman days...

Where the vast majority of our genetics evolved over all that time.

The Many Side-Benefits
of Sprint Training

After testing traditional sprint workouts on ourselves and fellow fitness junkies...

We concluded that not only was the exercise perfect...

For those with the specific goal of attaining that classic sprinter's physique...

It had amazing benefits for all sorts of fitness goals.

For example:

     - Overcoming plateaus
     - Fixing any natural imbalances
     - Overcoming workout routine boredom
     - Saving tons of time with shorter workouts and no driving
     - Breaking free of the dependencies on gyms

This last benefit was especially valuable in the two pandemic years...

As we heard the same story over and over again...

Of lifelong gym goers losing years of gains after all the gyms had closed down.

The Science Explaining the Impossible Results of Sprint Training

So at this point...we've established that sprinting has training benefits far beyond the simple quest for:

That classic "sprinter's physique".

And there is something inherently unique about this exercise that you can't really get elsewhere.

But what EXACTLY is that makes sprinting such a one-of-a-kind exercise?

Well after further reseach and practice...

We found that it all boiled down to 3 key elements:

Element #1: Weak Link Targeting

Among the biggest flaws with traditional gym workouts...

Is the imbalance of muscle proportions naturally arise over time.

Due first, to the fact that MOST people...

Naturally like to focus on the areas they are strong, rather than the areas they are weak.

And second, to the fact that your genetics...

Will likely allow certain muscle groups on your body to grow much easier than others.

With sprinting however, all these imbalances iron themselves out naturally.

And here's WHY:

Compared to typical gym workouts comprised of many isolated exercises…

Sprinting on the other hand, is a single full-body exercise....

Which means there is no possible way to ignore any one muscle group.

For example: an extremely common “weak link” in newbie sprinters is the calves.

Which is really no surprise...

Since almost everyone in the gym has calves that are way underdeveloped compared to their upper leg muscles.

Unlike most leg exercises, which push with the heel on the ground.

With sprinting, all the pushing is done with the heel OFF the ground…

Which means that the pushing ability of the upper legs is going to be automatically limited...

By the pushing ability of the calves.

As the old saying goes, a machine is only a strong as its weakest link.

Which is why, once you start sprinting...

All of these weak links in your body automatically begin catching up to the strong links…

And you build a physique that is not only more aesthetically pleasing to look at...

But is also more functional in all movements, and more resistant to injury as well.

Moving on…

Element #2: Heart Rate Spikes

As we further examined the key differences between sprint training and other common forms of exercise...

The next major breakthough we uncovered...

Was that sprinters maxed out their heart rates, more thoroughly, and more repeatedly...

In a single workout, than any other movement, sport, or training style that we could think to compare.

In the gym, we found that 99% of the people there maxed out their heart rate exactly 0 times per workout.

There was almost never a moment after a set of any exercise...

When you’d see someone in the gym have to lay down for 5-10 minutes straight...

Just to recover enough to stand up again.

Yet this happens constantly on the track, anytime you run hard for a good distance.

Upon doing more research...

We discovered that maxing out your heart rate has a wealth of enormously positive effects on the your health and fitness.

Not only does keep the heart itself strong…

It releases an entire cocktail of muscle building hormones into your body...

Which have anabolic effects on your system long after the workout has ended.

It even has a massive effect on something called “heart rate variability”…

Which is essentially a measurement of the effectiveness of your body’s “fight or flight response”.

People with high heart rate variability are able to react better to stressful conditions...

Which means they produce less of the stress hormones that eat away at your muscles on a daily basis…

And they make better decisions, more logical decisions...

Meaning it’s easier for them to stay consistent with positive daily routines like working out.

Element #3: Proper Technique

Particularly fascinating, was this final breakthrough we uncovered...

After noticing the puzzling fact that not EVERYONE who engaged in regular sprint training...

Had the classic sprinter's physique we all envy.

With track athletes at lower levels, high school and younger...

We noticed that while a few looked impressive….

Most looked not at all like the sprinters on TV.

In fact many were kind of scrawny.

While initially disappointing, it forced us to investigate the possibility that MAYBE...

Sprinting actually wasn't the one magic exercise we thought it was.

However...after examining these athletes closer...

We noticed an extremely consistent trend between those who HAD the superhero bodies, and those who DIDN'T.

You see, as it turns out, simply running hard and fast is not the primary source of results.

And the REAL DIFFERENCE between results, and NO results...was TECHNIQUE.

As we eventually discovered through many interviews...

Track athletes at middle school levels often receive little-to-no instruction on the actual mechanics of running...

And many have coaches that never even ran track themselves.

As a result, these athletes muscles never developed much...

Simply because weren’t engaging as they needed to.

It was only those with access to good coaching...

Who ever managed to build the superhuman physiques we all envy.

Because once their knowledge and technique crossed a certain threshold of competency...

Their gains at that point became simply the natural consequence of repeating the movement.

Of course, there's a lot more we could tell you about each individual muscle group...
